Testing Samsung Power Board Inverter Drives

BN44-00165, BN44-00167, BN44-00168

Tools Needed:

  • Multimeter;
  • Variable Bench Variable Power Supply (Ohm uses 12V 1.5A);
  • Variable Bench Power Supply (Ohm used 30v 10A, but only 5V is needed).
  1. Fit the Power Supply/Inverter Board into the TV and attach the Mains cable @ PD801S, Inverter Plug CNI806 & Inverter Drives CNI808 & CNI 809. Do not connect CN801 or CNI803. Do not switch on the Isolated Mains Voltage.
  2. Using Variable Bench Power Supply #1 connect a lead to CN801 Pin 1, marked POWER ON/OFF.
  3. Using Variable Bench Power Supply #2 connect a lead to CNI803 Pin 5, Marked INVERTER ON/OFF.
  4. Turn on at Isolated Mains and check the +5V Standby Output @ CN801 pin 3, marked STB5.2V.
  5. Switch on Power Supply #1 and apply 1V, you will hear the relay click. This has turned on the switched Power Supply voltages.
  6. You can check by testing the voltage at CNI806 P in 1 VCC_12V.
  7. Switch on Power Supply #2 and apply +5V. The Inverter will now be turned on and the screen should now light.
