Sony | KP46V15 AP | Squeal | KP46V15 serial 9009331 Unit has a high pitch squeal from the high voltage power supply Tech tried to glue the transformer with speaker cement now the set does not run anymore. | It is unknown what compound is in the glues used to quiet down the transformer but I would not use it any more. Super glue or cyanoacyralate is probably the best compound to stop acoustical lamination vibration. The tech will need to replace the flyback transformer. | Muller |
Sony | KP46V15 AP | SHUT DOWN | KP46V15 Unit has a shutdown symptom. | Several technicians were out and the last technician installs the D board regulators. IC904 is a 3 legged regulator used for the - 15 volts supply. The original was a plastic one. Tech did not realize the regulator was shorting the -15 volt to ground because the new device has a metal back where the original was all plastic. The cure was to cut the trace on the CBA that connected IC904 heatsink to cold ground. The enabled the set to operate with this new regulator. | Muller |
Sony | KP46V15 AP | CONVERGENCE | KP46V16. Unit does not have control of Red horizontal centering | Tech needs to look at the output of IC506(5) for the Red horizontal centering. This IC is the Bus Decoder that decodes the data to 4 separate outputs. Each output is for Red H & V, B H & V Centering. Since the Centering is fine for the B Horizontal and poor for red it is suggested too replace the IC. New IC corrected the symptom. | Muller |
Sony | KP46V15 | G BOARD AND A BOARD HAS +135 PRINTED ON BOARDSWRONG | Connector G2 (G board) and connector A2 (A Board) have +135printed on them. This is incorrect the true voltage is +115v DC. The-135 volt line is correct.
Sony | KP46V15 | INTERMITTENT BLUE, REPLACED BLUE CRT | Customer reported picture would become yellow green at times. It would alternate between normal and yellow as he continued using set.
Sony | KP46V15 | PARTS NUMBER FOR MIRROR | Part number in service manual for V15, AP chassis, and V25, RA chassis are listed differently. Such as in V15, AP, 53 and 61use same part number but V25, RA shows 46 and 53 are same part number. -SOLUTION : Service ma
Sony | KP46V15 | GLASS DOOR HINGES AND SCREWS, PART NUMER NEEDED | Glass door hinges or mounting screws are not availableseparately. Glass block assembly must be ordered, part numberX-403-295-21, which includes all of the above.
Sony | KP46V15 | NO PICTURE INTERMITTENT LOSS OF HIGH VOLTAGE, CRACKED BOARD | Cust. complaint of intermittent picture. When first turnedon timer led flashed, but no picture appeared. Troubleshooting revealedno high voltage being produced.
Sony | KP46V15 | NO PIP WINDOW OR PICTURE, ADJUSTED PPLL | Customre reported when PIP function selected PIP channel #would appear but no PIP window. Swapping would produce PIP picture onmain screen but still no PIP window.
Sony | KP46V15 | DEAD, T502 | Unit came in with shorted power supply switching transistors. Power supply problem caused by an excessive load. Specifically thehorizontal driver transformer T502 was shorted primary to secondary.Replacement of the transformer along with the switching
Sony | KP46V15 | NO VERTICAL, IC907 | There was no vertical deflection. This was a result of the-5v and +5v lines being very low. The problem was caused by IC907. Itwas shorted and drawing too much current from these supplies. Replacementresolved the problem.
Sony | KP46V15 | SMEARED GREEN HI-LITES, REPLACED Q734 ON CG BRD SHORTED | Symptoms were smeary green highlite areas in video, and when set was turned off, a green circular blotch would appear and gradually decay to black.
Sony | KP46V15 | COLOR OFF WASHED OUT VIDEO, REPLACED IC1002 | The picture has washed out color, looks like low chroma signal.
Sony | KP46V15 | NO PICTURE, REPLACED Q733 ON GREEN "C" BOARD | Unit had no picture and stadby light on front panelflashing. Suspected unit was in IK blanking. While troubleshooting unitdiscovered 3 volt IK pulse on video input to green C board. Blue and redvideo inputs had 1.5 volts pulse, normal. None of vide
Sony | KP46V15 | PINCUSHION PIC, REPLACED R1746,1743, IC1704, AND IC1703 | Unit was pincushioned, checking found both F901 & 902 open.Further checking found all pins on IC1705 had melted solder. Furtherchecking discovered R1746, 1743 open. replacing all these parts unitworked fine, however, IC1705 was extremely hot. Checkin |
