HUMMING NOISE FROM INSIDE UNIT - SEE S/B HFP381 FOR MOD Could hear a humming noise usually on tracks 2-6 of CD.Replaced optical block 1st time. STATIC OVER AUDIO - REPLACED IC302 Loud static was over normal audio. By looking at DATA line,it was hard to tell whether noise was induced by IC301, IC302 or IC303.IC302 was the least obvious.

DEFECTIVE DISPLAY (REPOSITION CLIP OF GROUND WIRE ON HP PCB) The chassis ground wire coming off of the headphone board isin a position where the clip end of the wire wears through the flex cable(ref 6) causing some of the data lines to be shorted to ground.
