EXCESSIVE BACK TENSION - PICTURE DISTORTED This unit at first appeared to have a capstan problem. Onchecking further we found the back tension to be excessive. This wascaused by the brake solenoid not engaging fully.

REWIND PROBLEM Close inspection of enclosed upper drum revealed a slightimperfection (marked). Replaced again OK.-HQ COMMENTS: We will evaluate this sample and inform you of our results.

EXCESSIVE DRUM SPEED, PICTURE DISTORTED Drum speed excessive. There was approx. +10VDC on drum errorline which should be about +6VDC. Drum free speed control had no effect.Checked drum PGS and found PGS pulse missing, checked PG coil and foundit open.

FULL ERASE HEAD ON AT ALL TIMES No playback except for the first few sec. Counter works for5 sec then stops as picture disappears. Found no video/audio or CTL afterrewinding and tried to play it. Power was already on and erasing tape.

BRAKES DRAGGING Brakes would not release.

NO P/B OR F/F FUNCTIONS No F/F mode at all. Would enter rewind mode whenever the P/Bmode was entered. The sensor leads resistance would change from 4 ohms to20 ohms whenever the leads or the PC bd of the sensor was agitated.

TAPE SPILLING In the playback mode the take-up reel was not taking the tapeand the tape was spilling out at the pinch roller. The cassette waslocked in the cassette compartment.

SS-10 BOARD CHANGE Old board (SS-10A, P/N A-6715-131-A) uses PCB Part number1-605-574-23. New board uses 1-605-574-32. Trick and other functions donot work.

DROP OUT OF FUNCTION IS SPECIAL EFFECTS MODE After 15 mins on, unit would go into STOP mode when specialeffects was selected.
