TAPE INTERMITTENTLY EJECTS WHILE THREADED WHEN PB IS ENTERED 1) Tape intermittently ejects while threaded when PB button ispushed (causing tape damage). 1) Intermittent capstan rotation during PB.
SonyCCDV8AFU
CASSETTE DOOR WON Locked mechanism using mode selector jig. During loading unitwould intermittently thread fully, then unthread slightly causing pinchroller to repeatedly engage and disengage.

UNIT SHUTS DOWN AFTER CAM POWER IS TURNED ON When cam power only or cam + VTR power is turned on, unitshuts down after a few seconds of playback or recording. Playback offunction tape indicated no drum lock. Self recorded tape appeared locked.
SonyCCDV8AFU
INTERMITTENT NO POWER ON Sys. 5V was present, but mode control CPU, IC601, SK-7 bd,would not issue VTR on signal (Pin 19).

DISTORTED CAMERA OUTPUT Sample crystal changed oscillator frequency from 28.6MHz to5MHz after 10 minutes.

TAPE JAMS AROUND DRUM DURING THREADING When a new tape is inserted, and tape starts to thread, itjams around the drum assy. This happens because there is no excess tapewhich can be pulled out from take up reel. -HQ COMMENTS: Under normal operation, the tape is fast forwarded for afew second

NO DRUM LOCK Unit would not drum lock, sound distorted. Intermittent shut-down due to overheating of IC501, Q501 and L502 (too hot to touch). Usingscope checked outputs at IC501 Pins 3, 22, 24 and Pins - no output.Traced back to Q508 TF4 amp.

COUNTER WILL NOT READ Counter will not change, stays in the 000 position. Foundsensor PH602 defective.

POOR VIDEO, NO COLOR, POOR SYNC (CAMERA ONLY) AFTER WARM UP Picture deteriorated (during camera use) after 2 to 3 min ofoperation. VCR picture OK.

PICTURE PULSES ON PB AND RECORD The picture pulses, like horizontal jitter, and whinning noisecoming from the drum motor. Voltages on Pins 22, 24 and 3 are 2.4 voltsDC and the waveforms appeared very noisy.
SonyCCDV8AFU
NO AUDIO RECORD Unit would not record Audio, but had good E-E Audio. Locatedproblem with freq. counter on Pin 13 of IC401 on AR-1 board. I could notadjust freq. any lower than 1.8 mHz with RV402. I replaced IC401 butthis did not help. I found that the ground end of

INTERMITTENT OPERATION OF CONTROL MOTOR Blowing fuse PS601 intermittently. This motor should drawabout 60mA under normal operation, increasing to about 170mA at the end ofboth threading or unthreading (max. load). This one was drawing over 1.2AI have two units with the same problem.
SonyCCDV8AFU
COLOR DISTORTED One pulse missing on IC707. IC708, CP-9 board (sync gen) alsoreplaced.

HORIZONTAL JITTER DURING PLAYBACK WITH VTR POWER ON Unit would shutdown in REC mode when cam power was on, and inREC or PB mode when VTR + cam power was on. With only VTR power on, play-back picture had horizontal jitter.
