If a device does not work, there is a problem with power supply. One common problem is a short in battery, remove battery and test if works without it with power cord connected. If not, there is a problem in internal power supply or a device with problem(memory, dvd, video processing).
Sometimes, capacitores in voltage regulator area can produce this type of malfunction.
