Inverter 12VDC to 220VAC (20-40W)
This compact inverter circuit converts 12V DC from a battery into 220V AC with a maximum power output of 20–40W.
A CD4047B IC acts as a stable astable oscillator generating a square wave at 50Hz. The oscillator drives a BC337 transistor as a pre-driver, which in turn controls the 2N3055 power transistor. The output stage powers a 12V → 220V, 3–4A transformer, providing safe AC voltage suitable for small household loads or LED lamps.
Key Features:
- Input Voltage: 12V DC
- Output Voltage: 220V AC
- Power: 20–40W
- Oscillator: CD4047B
- Driver: BC337
- Power Stage: 2N3055
- Transformer: 12V → 220V, 3 to 4A
Tip: Use a proper heatsink for the 2N3055 transistor, and avoid high inductive loads. This square-wave inverter is ideal for learning and powering small resistive devices.
